National Honor Society

National Honor Society Community Service Donation

As part of your membership in NHS, you are required to complete two community service projects to maintain your membership.  One of these can be a donation

This year, NHS will conduct its own canned food drive to complete that requirement and to benefit Grace’s Place and the Cancer Foundation League.

Grace’s Place Ministries serves approximately 3000 meals per month in the Soup Kitchen as well as provides clothing and household items and canned goods for anyone in need.  The project we will be assisting with is food bags for the homeless. (food items)

The Cancer Foundation League (CFL) is the fundraising arm of the Northeast La Cancer Institute.  They raise funds for patient services (help with medication costs, gas cards, paying utilities, lodging during treatment-those types of things)  They also use part of their funds for local cancer research taking place in our area.  All of the funds stay here in North Louisiana, and they have no administrative costs.  The project we will be assisting with is their Christmas food baskets which are delivered to 100 local cancer patients.  (peppermint or butterscotch candies)

Please bring the following items to Ms. Rodgers in room 1205 during the week of October 16 - 20.

The items below were purchased at Super One for approximately $9.50.

  • 1 package of peppermints or butterscotch candy
  • 1 box of red beans and rice mix (Zatarains or Tony Chachere)
  • 4 cans of vegetables
  • 1 can of pork and beans
  • 2 cans of Ravioli or Beef a Roni
  • 1 can of chicken noodle soup
