CONGRATULATIONS to Air Force Junior ROTC's Challenge Honor Guard team who took second place this past weekend at the Air Force regional contest at Airline High School. Cadet Technical Sergeant Tiffany Carter led a team comprised of: Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Ethan Lunsford, Cadet Second Lieutenant Cheyanne Hobbs, and Cadet Master Sergeant Carla Ramos.

 

Congratulations to the girls and boys cross country teams for qualifying to state meet. The girls were led by Kirsten Elrod who won the three mile course in 19 minutes and 9 seconds. Other top finishers for the girls were Hannah Hudnal, Laura Katherine Dupuy, Anna Grace McDuffie and Katie Redmond. Ethan Newberry and Christian Girod paced the boys with top 25 finishes. Other top finishers for the boys were Daniel Rowland, David Bennett, Triston Erwin, Baylor Picard and Drake Vidrine.

 

Good luck to the Lady Rebel Soccer Team as they host Ouachita HS for the final preseason scrimmage today at Rebel Stadium. The Varsity will kick off at 5:30pm with the JV following immediately after. Students get in free, so come out and support our girls!

 

Seniors, just a reminder that some colleges and universities have Priority Scholarship dates quickly approaching. LSU - Baton Rouge is November 15, McNeese State University is November 15, and University of New Orleans is December 15.

Seniors, while on your hunt for college scholarships, be sure to check out this list of 10 Scholarship Programs that will give out more than one million dollars to students this 2017-2018 school year. Don't delay because deadlines for these scholarships range from November 17 to January 31.

We are pleased to inform you that the online application for the Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship is now available atwww.jackierobinson.org. To be eligible for a Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship, an applicant must:

Be a graduating, minority high school senior

Plan to attend an accredited and approved four-year institution within the United States

Show leadership potential

Demonstrate a dedication to community service

Present evidence of financial need

Be a United States citizen

Have a minimum SAT score of 1,000 combined on the math and critical reading sections or a composite ACT score of 21

The deadline to submit the application for a Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship is February 1, 2018by4:00 PM.

There will be an art club committee meeting today after school in Mrs. Ganley's room for those who are interested in painting for Christmas. This is NOT a regular meeting.  Just those who want to paint and come and work till4:00pm. At4:00we close it down. Thank you.

 

The Student Council and Spirit Groups are bringing back the PowderPuff football game to West Monroe on Monday, November 13th at 5:30pm.We are looking for 24girls per grade interested in playing on the football team and 10guys per grade who would like to cheer and dance. If you are interested, we will begin signing students up at both lunch shifts on Wednesday, November 1st. The first 24 girls to sign up AND pay $10.00 per grade will be allowed to participate. The first 10 guys per grade to sign up AND pay $10.00 will participate on the cheer team. Student Council and Spirit Groups are selling tickets to the game for $5.00. It should be a great time and a portion of the proceeds will go to the Louisiana Muscular Dystrophy Association. We can't wait to see ya'll at the games!

 

Art Club members who want to paint can stay after school till4:00with Mrs. Ganley. This is NOT a regular meeting.
