Good Morning West Monroe, It's Monday October 24th. This is KREB and we are on the air.

I am Gabby and I am Jace and we have your morning announcements.

This week is Red Ribbon Week. 

Today-Banners will be placed around the school.

Tomorrow- "Wear Red Day" Wear a Red shirt

Wednesday-"Lick the Drug and Alcohol Problem" We will hand out red suckers at lunch on the boardwalk

Thursday- "Pop Corn not Pills" We will hand out popcorn in the library during both lunch shifts.

If you ordered school pictures from Albritton Photography, stop by Miss Kiper's room 6204 between classes to sign for and pick up your pictures. Sorry, but you cannot pick up pictures for anyone else.

Seniors, listen up. Yearbook baby ads are due November 1st. You must have money, pictures, and a completed form turned in by the due date to get your ad in the yearbook. Stop by Miss Kiper's room 6204 to pick up or drop off your form.

If any student's family or faculty member owns a business and would like to advertise in our 2017 yearbook, stop by room 6204 for a form letter explaining ad sizes and cost.

National Honor Society Members

If you have not picked up your T-Shirts, please go by Ms. Rodgers' room before school tomorrow to pick up yours. Also, be sure to pick up your donation information. Donations are due by November 4.

Art Club members: If you have not picked up your tee shirt, please come to Mrs. Ganley's room 1109 and get yours. Mrs. Ganley has a few extra Art Club tee shirts and they are $10.00 a piece. Bring $10.00 cash and you can have one as long as they last. The next regular meeting will be November 3rd

A-HEC, which stands for Area Health Education Center, has some one day opportunities coming up.  If you are interested in a medical profession, you do not want to miss this chance to learn more about healthcare careers that are available.  These opportunities are open to seniors and juniors who have at least a 2.5 grade point average.  You must pick up an application from Mrs. Krista Nelson room # 3105 or print it out at www.clahec.org.  To apply you must fill out this application, get a letter of recommendation from one teacher, print out your most recent transcript, and type a 250 word essay that explains why you should be selected.  All of this information must be mailed to the address provided on the application not later than November 14th.

Any Student Council member that has not picked up his or her shirt needs to come by Mrs. Jones' room 5202 and get them before the end of this week.

Also, all student council members need to make plans to attend the LASC interest event Thursday October 27th at 6pm here at West Monroe in the Old Gym. If you have any questions about this event, you need to see Mrs. Jones as soon as possible. 

The GE-Ronald Reagan Foundation Scholarship is now available online. This $10,000 scholarship is renewable so students can receive up to $40,000. The online application must be complete by January 5, 2017.

Senior English teachers and the Guidance Department have website information for pickup today.

Junior Civitans: Club Picture Day is Wednesday, Oct 26. Our time is 11:45. Please pick up a pass outside Mrs. Beach's room (6206). Wear your club t-shirt.

Also, Junior Civitan members who worked at the fair will be treated to a chicken biscuit Wednesday morning outside room 6206 starting at 7:30 am. Come and get one for a job well done!

There is a Habitat for Humanity meeting at 7:30 Tuesday, October 25th, in room 3209.

Are you looking for community service hours?  The Downtown West Monroe Revitalization group is holding its first annual Pumpkin Fest this Saturday, October 29.  Workers are needed from 9:30 - 3:30 for setting up, helping with games, running errands, and cleaning up.  The Debbie Bourg Dancers will be performing along with many shopping opportunities, fun activities and food!  If you are interested in helping, you can sign up with Tadpoles, Junior Civitan, Key Club, or you can sign up outside Mrs. Counts room.

Even if you don't plan on helping, you can still come to Downtown West Monroe on Saturday between 10 - 3 and have fun and enjoy celebrating fall.
