Jr Civitans who are participating in the Pen Pal activity, should write one more letter. Please bring it to Mrs. Beach in room 6206 by end of the day today. We will have a social event for you to meet your new friend on February 27- more details on that to come later.


The WMHS Mock Trial team will be featured on KNOE TV next Thursday on Good Morning Ark-la-miss. The station is holding a competition between 5 schools in the parish (WOHS, Richwood, Sterlington, St. Fred's and WMHS) for who has the best programs at their school. PLEASE go online to www.knoe.com or download the app and vote for WMHS! The winning school will receive an invitation to appear on Good Morning Ark-la-miss and a trophy to display at the school. 


Congratulations to the WMHS Mock Trial teams for their performances Saturday at the Regional Competition in Shreveport. Team B made it to the semi-finals for the first time ever! Team A placed second and will be headed to the state competition on March 10! Wish them luck at state! Magi Sumpter was awarded Best Attorney and Camren Studer received Honorable Mention for best witness.


It is class favorites time! Class favorites or superlatives are a fun high school yearbook tradition meant for students to enjoy and vote on to remember their high school experience. Your 2nd period teacher will have an envelope with the correct number of ballots per grade in his/her box today and everyone should vote tomorrow. Please only vote if you plan to take time to answer thoughtfully. We will throw away any ballot that looks suspicious.Here are the categories for each grade: Best School Spirit (someone very in volved at WMHS),Celeb Look Alike (student could be a model/celeb),Biggest Sweetheart (a very caring person),Over-achiever (super smart student),Life of the Party (someone fun and social).You will choose a boy and girl for each category.


Seniors will also vote for senior most likely to. The categories are: most likely to discover aliens (someone smart and curious), most likely to have senior it is as a junior (someone who has been ready to graduate), most likely to appear on the cover of a magazine (stylish person), most likely to change the world (influential and helpful student), most likely to win the lottery (lucky person), and most likely to win a rap battle (musically talented student.)You will choose a boy and girl for each category.


We also have faculty favorites. Any faculty or student that would like to vote on this category can. There are only a handful of ballots per envelope. Please only vote if you plan to completely fill it out. The categories are: leave a lasting impression, enthusiastic about learning, best wardrobe (can be a combo of men and women), give homework over the weekend, best storyteller, and jeopardy genius (who you think are the smartest teachers at the school). You will choose a male and female teacher for each category.


National Honor Society Induction Ceremony practice will be Friday, February 23 during 1st period. All current members and inductees must attend this mandatory practice in the auditorium. Please release these students as soon as possible. Pracitce will take most of the hour.Teachers a list of students who must attend this practicewill be sent to you in an email. New National Honor Society member dues must be paid online by Friday at 3:00. The link is on the opsb.net site. Look for a purple dollar sign.


Congratulations to the WMHS Winterguard. They competed Saturday in their 2nd competition of the circuit season at Pineville HS. After placing 2nd in their first competition 2 weeks ago in Natchitoches, they won the competitionSaturday with a score of 80.24, jumping 13 points and beating 2nd place by 6 points! Congratulations again to these talented and hardworking students!
