Good Morning West Monroe, It's Tuesday October 25th. This is KREB and we are on the air.

 

I am Essence and I am Joe and we have your morning announcements.

 

Are you interested in traveling to new York city and Boston, Massachusetts in JULY 2017?? If so come by room 3103 to pick up information or attend an informational/sign up meeting onNovember 1st in the WMHS library at 5:30pm.

 

9th graders - On Thursday, 10/27, there will be a student and parent meeting in the Auditorium at 6:30 PM. Please make plans to attend so you can learn about your graduation options. You have two choices and if you don't know what they are, this meeting is definitely for you.

Remember, you have two choices and if you don't know what they are, you should definitely make this meeting a priority. You'll also get to taste some treats from our Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Department. 

 

Attention Art Club members. Art Club members need to pick up a picture permission slip from Mrs. Ganley in room 1109. Club pictures are this Wednesday

. There are very few extra Art Club tee shirts. $10.00 Cash only.

 

 

This week is Red Ribbon Week. 

 

Today-Banners will be placed around the school.

Tomorrow- "Wear Red Day" Wear a Red shirt

Wednesday-"Lick the Drug and Alcohol Problem" We will hand out red suckers at lunch on the boardwalk

Thursday- "Pop Corn not Pills" We will hand out popcorn in the library during both lunch shifts.

 

 

If you ordered school pictures from Albritton Photography, stop by Miss Kiper's room 6204 between classes to sign for and pick up your pictures. Sorry, but you cannot pick up pictures for anyone else.

 

Seniors, listen up. Yearbook baby ads are due November 1st. You must have money, pictures, and a completed form turned in by the due date to get your ad in the yearbook. Stop by Miss Kiper's room 6204 to pick up or drop off your form.

 

If any student's family or faculty member owns a business and would like to advertise in our 2017 yearbook, stop by room 6204 for a form letter explaining ad sizes and cost.

 

 

National Honor Society Members

 

If you have not picked up your T-Shirts, please go by Ms. Rodgers' room before school tomorrow to pick up yours. Also, be sure to pick up your donation information. Donations are due by November 4.

 

This week is college and career week. Here is a video from our counseling department.

 

Art Club members: If you have not picked up your tee shirt, please come to Mrs. Ganley's room 1109 and get yours. The next regular meeting will be November 3rd.

 

A-HEC, which stands for Area Health Education Center, has some one day opportunities coming up.  If you are interested in a medical profession, you do not want to miss this chance to learn more about healthcare careers that are available.  These opportunities are open to seniors and juniors who have at least a 2.5 grade point average.  You must pick up an application from Mrs. Krista Nelson room # 3105 or print it out at www.clahec.org.  To apply you must fill out this application, get a letter of recommendation from one teacher, print out your most recent transcript, and type a 250 word essay that explains why you should be selected.  All of this information must be mailed to the address provided on the application not later than November 14th.

 

The GE-Ronald Reagan Foundation Scholarship is now available online. This $10,000 scholarship is renewable so students can receive up to $40,000. The online application must be complete by January 5, 2017.

 

Senior English teachers and the Guidance Department have website information for pickup today.

 

Junior Civitans: Club Picture Day is Wednesday, Oct 26. Our time is 11:45. Please pick up a pass outside Mrs. Beach's room (6206). Wear your club t-shirt.

 

Also, Junior Civitan members who worked at the fair will be treated to a chicken biscuit Wednesday morning outside room 6206 starting at 7:30 am. Come and get one for a job well done!

 

There is a Habitat for Humanity meeting at 7:30 Tuesday,October 25th, in room 3209.

 

 

Are you looking for community service hours? The Downtown West Monroe Revitalization group is holding its first annual Pumpkin Fest this Saturday, October 29. Workers are needed from 9:30 - 3:30 for setting up, helping with games, running errands, and cleaning up. The Debbie Bourg Dancers will be performing along with many shopping opportunities,fun activities and food! If you are interested in helping, you can sign up with Tadpoles, Junior Civitan, Key Club, or you can sign up outside Mrs. Counts room.

 

Even if you don't plan on helping, you can still come to Downtown West Monroeon Saturday between 10 - 3 and have fun and enjoy celebrating fall.

 

Junior and Senior students don't forget to visit the Rebel Pavilion today during both lunch shifts. Be sure to sign in as a guest when you visit. Those names will be placed in a drawing and 5 lucky students will receive a $5 Sonic Card as a treat!

Thank you all who've pre-ordered your yearbook andmade National Buy Your Yearbook Day a success! We beat last year's sales by 100 books! That's unbelievable! We've pre-sold320 books so far, that's 40% of our goal of 800 books. You have through October 31st to pre-order your yearbook with the early bird price of $65. The price goes up onNovember 1st.

Club Picture day istomorrow,Wednesday, Oct. 26thin the Old Gym. Teachers, you should have received an emailed scheduleon Friday. Sponsors, please notify your students of the designated time and ask them to wear their club tshirt, uniform, or costume. There will be no announcements, so students MUST pay attention to the time.

 

If you ordered school pictures, don't forget to pick up them up in room 6204. We still have approximately 100 unclaimedpictures. You're parents will be very upset if they payed for these pictures, and they never make it home.

 

Attention JCL members! If you have not picked up your shirt, please do so ASAP! Club picture day isWEDNESDAY!Please pick up your picture pass from Mrs. K before school WEDNESDAY so that you can be on time. There will be an interest meeting on Thursday, 10/27 at 7:30 AM in Mrs. Kelly's room for those interested in going to State Convention in March.
