Are you in need of community service hours? If you are, the annual Downtown West Monroe Pumpkin Fest is looking for volunteers for Saturday, October 21st. To sign up to volunteer for Pumpkin Fest stop by Miss Counts room in Freshman Wing 1208 .Or  the other Mrs. Counts Room in 4th Wing 4104. Everyone who signed up to help with Pumpkin Fest. Instructions will be placed in your 1st period teachers' boxes. If you do not receive your information by Friday, please see Mrs. Counts in room 4104.

Applications are open for the ACT Student Champion Award! The ACT Student Champion Award recognizes one student in each state who is tenacious and persistent, no matter the challenge, and is prepared for life after high school with a goal in mind and plan in place. ACT Student Champions receive a $500 non-renewable scholarship, certificate, plaque, and state-level recognition.Applications can be found at www.act.org/readinesschampions. More information can be found in the guidance office. Applications are due December 31, 2017, and champions will be notified on or before April 2, 2018.

Students if you a Senior or Junior and are interested in a healthcare career, A-HEC has some opportunities for you. There will be four one day field trips to local colleges that will allow you to get a closer look at medical degrees that they offer. Colleges that are included are LSU Health Shreveport, LA Tech, Northwestern, and ULM. If you are interested, grab a application form outside of room 3101, complete the form, and mail it to the address listed before November 3rd.

The Louisiana AFL-CIO will be awarding three $1,000 scholarships at their 63rd Annual Convention in March 2018. To be eligible to enter this essay contest, all contestants must be high school seniors residing in the State of Louisiana whose parent/step parent is a member of an affiliated local union in good standing with the Louisiana AFL-CIO.If you are a senior and you are interested in more information, stop by the guidance office and pick up a packet. All application materials must be postmarked by January 5, 2018.

Seniors, it's time to begin applying for merit scholarships for your 2018 freshman year of college.Priority Scholarship deadlines are quickly approaching, so remember to visit the web site of your chosen university for application requirements and deadlines.

The Priority Scholarship Deadline for McNeese State University is November 15. If you are interested in attending McNeese State and have not applied, go to www.mcneese.eduand fill out your application.

If LSU is your school of choice, the Louisiana State University - Baton Rouge Priority Scholarship Deadline and Honors College is November 15 also. Be sure to go to online at www.lsu.edu to apply.

The Art Club meeting will be today after school in Mrs. Ganley's room 1109. There will be a business meeting for the first 10 minutes and then a fun Fall/Halloween painting activity until4:15. You are not required to stay for the painting activity. Bring your own paint brushes. Please come and sign up for the painting activity as soon as possible. See Mrs. Ganley for details.

Juniors: Don't forget that the Graduate Shop will be on campus during both lunch shifts on tomorrow, to accept your graduation ring order form and $100 deposit. They will be set up in the hallway by Student Services.

Remember to get your Volleyball Clinic permission sheets back to the main office by today. The Clinic will be this Saturday, October 21st. For more information contact Dejon Griffin 254-702-9878 or Elizabeth Hargrave 478-538-2753.

Student Council will be selling Class Shirts today through next Friday, October 27th. The shirts will be sold on the Boardwalk during both lunch shifts. The shirts are comfort colors and each grade will be in a different color. Short sleeve shirts will be sold for $12.00 and long sleeve shirts will be sold for $15. $5.00 from every shirt sold will go to the Student Council State Charity which is the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Louisiana. Please buy a shirt and support a great cause!

Yearbooks are still on sale but are now $70. You may purchase them online at gorebs.org or cash to room 6204. Senior baby ad forms are still available outside room 6204. The deadline is Nov. 1st.
