News from the Guidance Department:.


  • Ms. Maggie Willis, our ULM recruiter, shared this wonderful ACT Workshop opportunity for our WMHS Juniors and Seniors. This ACT Workshop is a great way for our students to prepare for the upcoming March and April ACT tests. Also, the first 100 students can register for FREE! See more info below:

  • From Guidance, The Jason Paul Cameron, Ouachita Valley Federal Credit Union, Koga Orthodontics, and Hagan Foundation scholarships are due today. The Delta Sigma Theta Sorority scholarship is due Tuesday, And the Grambling State University Scholarship is due next Friday.

  • All students are reminded that the deadline for registering for the April ACT is next Friday. 


Sports News: 


  • Our baseball team kicked off the Trey Altick yesterday with a 9-2 win against Bryant, Arkansas. Hayden Federico led off the game with a solo homer, drew 3 walks, and ended the day with two runs scored and 2 RBIs. Braden Cupit picked up the win and racked up 6 strikeouts over 5 innings pitched. They will be playing against John Curtis today, and Hahnville and Destrehan (like ham) tomorrow. All of these games will be at Shelby Aulds field 

  • Our Softball girls fell short against Calvary last night, 2-5. They will be in the Acadiana Tournament this weekend. Tonight, they will take on Walker, and tomorrow they will play Dominican and Beau Chene .

  • Congratulations to the WMHS Varsity Golf team. We took first, second, and third place! Cole Masters came in first at two under, Jace Crain came in second shooting even, and Nate Painich came in third shooting one over par! Our whole team took 1st overall shooting 5 over as a whole! Their next tournament will be at Monday at Bayou Desiard

  • Our tennis team took on Captain Shreve last night. Our girls won 6 out of 9 matches and our boys won 6 out of 7 matches. They will be back in action on Tuesday at Neville.   

  • Our track team traveled to Benton yesterday. Our medal winners were Charlotte Switzer, silver in the 400m dash and high jump; De’siree Boy-ett silver in the 2 mile run; Ainsten Dunn bronze in the 2 mile run; Lesleigh Fazz silver in Long Jump. Our girls 4x4 took gold with Shelby Mcallister, Dara Lowe, Charlotte Switzer, and Lesleigh Faz. Boys 4x8 took bronze with David Terry, Grayson Deustcher, Mason Johnson, and Cole Clark. Tytan Johnson took gold in the 800m run. Boys 4x4 took bronze with Mason Wright, Isaac Lane, Tytan Johnson, and Remy Moore. Deshun Thompson took bronze in the high jump.Next week’s track meet, the Van Leigh Relays, will be held at Neville high school on friday



Club and Organization News:


  • Registration Packets for Cheer Tryouts are in the Main Office for any student interested in trying out for the 2024-2025 WMHS Cheer Squad. Registration packets are due on the first day of Tryouts, payments can be made online at Tryouts are on March 11, 18, 19 

  • Attention juniors and seniors, in preparation for prom we are asking you to send in your song requests for the DJ.   Around campus you will see green posters with a qr code.  Scan that code to make your song requests.  You will need to know the actual song title and artist’s name when filling out the form. 

  • And speaking of Prom,Seniors,  All senior English teachers have posted a google form on their google classroom page.  This form will allow you to nominate members for our new Prom Court.  We will have five girls and five boys that will serve as our prom court.  The top five nominated boys and top five nominated girls will comprise our 2024 Prom court.  Once the court has been named on March 22nd, the king and queen will be chosen at prom.  All court members will be crowned at the dance.

  • The cornhole tournament was a huge success in the fall so we want to do it again! We have $900 in Visa gift cards to give away that were donated by Ouachita Valley Federal Credit Union for our tournament that is coming up during lunch in March!!! So we are going to double our number of winners to spread the wealth. We will have a Freshman/Sophomore division as well as a Junior/Senior division. Prizes will be given to the Champion teams and the runners up for each category on each lunch shift. So find a teammate and sign up  ASAP before all the spots are gone! The sign up sheet can be found on the Student Life Google Classroom page. Just type in your names. Brackets will be randomly generated just before the tournament.
