News from the Guidance Department:.

 

  • We will start taking up Chromebooks from all Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors the week of May 13th. That is  next week!  Please be sure your device is ready to turn in and prepare for any make up assignments you might have to use a Chromebook to complete.

  • Students, we are now offering Reserved Painted Parking! If you would like to lock in your parking spot for next year and customize it with paint, visit gorebs.org and click on the Painted Parking Link or see Mrs. Cavin in the library for more information and paper forms. 

  • The West Monroe Ag Program will be selling petunia hanging baskets, elephant ears, Mexican petunias, and tomato plants at its annual Spring Plant Sale on Wednesday and Thursday May 8th and 9th in the entrance way to the main office. The sale will run each day from 8 a.m. till 2:30 p.m. Petunia hanging baskets are $20. Elephant ear and Mexican Petunia Plants are $10 and tomato plants are $1 each. This is a perfect time to get something for yourself or for Mother's Day coming up on Sunday, May 12th!

  • Pre-check-out forms for final exams are due this Wednesday. Don’t forget to get those signed and turned in, or you’ll have to sit and wait until the buses run!

  • Graduation is this Thursday at Rebel Stadium. Come and send the seniors off. And seniors, we’ll miss you as you strive towards your future.  Due to the baseball game being Thursday, our senior baseball boys will have a Special Graduation Tuesday night at 6:30 at Shelby Aulds Field.

Sports News: 

 

  • Baseball dropped the first game of the series against Central Baton Rouge last Thursday. And they came out in game two with an incredible performance and a no hitter by Drew Ferguson. The bats came alive on Saturday in the rubber match and these boys are headed to Sulphur for the State Tournament. They will play Sam Houston on Thursday at 5:30 in Sulphur. 

  • Some of our Track and Field student athletes competed in Baton Rouge at the State Track Meet this past Saturday. Charlotte Switzer took sixth in the state in long jump. Tytan Johnson took sixth in the state in the 800 meter run with a huge PR of 1:56. Landon Spears took 7th in the state in the two mile run, and Jaxon Talley took second in the state in Javelin with a throw of 194 feet and 4 inches. 

  • Tryouts for next year’s Lady Rebel Softball team will be Tuesday May 14th and Wednesday May 15th. The time will be 4 to 6 PM at the West Monroe Softball field.   • Tennis tryouts for 2024-25 team will be May 14th from 3:15-4:45 at the WMHS tennis courts. If you were not on last year's team, you will need to pick up a packet from the front office to fill out and complete your physical in order to tryout. If you have any further questions, ask Coach Green in the new gym.

Club and Organization News: 

 

  • Magnatech, our robotics team, will begin taking team applications today and they will be due back on May 21st. They will also have an interest meeting on May 14th.
