CLUB and ORGANIZATION NEWS:  

 

  • Tonight, Student Council will have its first meeting. This meeting is for all students interested in Student Council this year. The meeting will be in the Library at 6:30pm. There will be an officer candidate meeting after the general meeting. See Mrs. Nix if you have any questions.

 

  • The West Monroe High School Robotics team applications are due Thursday. See Mr. Lovelady (3203), Mrs. Lovelady (7101), or Mrs. Cady (7103) if you have any questions.

 

  • If you are a Rebel Art Club member from the '23-'24 school year and are interested in joining Rebel Art Club again for the '24-'25 school year, please see Mrs. Lengefeld in room 1109 for an application ASAP. Your applications must be returned and $25 dues paid by tomorrow to confirm your membership. Membership will be capped at 35 students this year on a first-come, first-served basis, so get those applications returned quickly! A second round of memberships will open tomorrow for the following students: Current WMHS Art students, previous WMHS Art students with a written (or emailed) reference from your previous WMHS Art teacher. 

 

  • FCS/FCA meets TOMORROW at 7:15 in the New Gym. Come on out and join in the fellowship and guest speaker.

 

  • West Monroe High School has all kinds of clubs and organizations for students to join. Tomorrow, our Freshman Success teachers will be hosting a Club Fair during all three lunch shifts. Be sure to stop by the tables and find a place to plug in.


 

SCHOOL NEWS: 

 

  • WMHS will administer the ACT to ALL JUNIORS and to seniors who have a score of 15-19. Test day is October 22. Mark your calendars.

 

  • The AAPPL (apple) test will be offered on September 11th. This is for students who know another language and who wish to test out of their language classes. The cost of the test is $20. See Mrs. Ballance in room 2207 for a list of languages or to pick up a registration form. Forms and money are due by September 10th. . 

 

  • The annual PIZZA PIGOUT night is Tuesday, September 10th from 5-8 pm at the Warren Drive and Wallace Road locations of Johnny’s Pizza. Make plans to attend. 

 

  • Attention students taking dual enrollment courses this semester: If you owe money to ULM, that payment will be due no later than Wednesday, Sept. 25.  Beginning in September, you may either bring a check to Mrs. Hunt OR pay online on your ULM  Banner account. If paying by check, you must write your full name on the memo line. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THE AMOUNT YOU OWE MAY NOT BE ACCURATELY REFLECTED IN YOUR BANNER ACCOUNT RIGHT NOW, AS OPSB FUNDING HAS NOT YET BEEN ADDED, AND COURSES ARE CURRENTLY BEING ADDED BY ULM . If you have any questions about the amount you owe to ULM, please ask your DE teachers or Mrs. Hunt.

 

  • Thursday is Picture ReTake day. If you didn’t get your picture made or are in need of a retake, be sure to be ready for Thursday.

 

SPORTS NEWS:

 

  • Tonight, our Freshman and JV football teams travel to Ruston to take on the Bearcats at 5:30 and 7. Good Luck to these teams.

 

  • This Thursday, our JV and Varsity Volleyball teams travel to ULM to play Wossman. Good Luck to these teams.

 

  • This Saturday, our Freshman and Sophomore Cross Country team members will travel to Choudrant for a meet. We wish them good luck as well.

 

  • This Friday in Rebel Stadium the football team will host Huntington. This is our first home game of the season so make plans to come on out. 

 

  • And, in honor of our first home football game, Friday is also Pep Rally day. The theme is “Olympics” so get your spirit stuff together and come ready to cheer on our classmates. 

 

  • Student Athletic passes are now on sale for $30! You can purchase online at gorebs.org under the online school payments  These get you into all home, regular season games (not playoff games) and work for all sports. An extra bonus is this pass also grants you access to the Rebel Nation Student Section at all home games

 

  • Speaking of the Rebel Nation Student Section. Here is some information….

 

  • To get into the Rebel Nation Student Section, you must have a Rebel Nation Pass or an athletic pass.

 

  • The Rebel Nation pass does not need to be purchased if you have an athletic pass.

 

  • Rebel Nation passes are ONLY available online. No cash will be taken at the game. 

 

  • WMHS Seniors can sign in a guest that attends any school. The senior must be able to prove they are a WMHS senior before signing in their guest if asked.
