CLUB and ORGANIZATION NEWS:  


 

  • The 30+ Club is now accepting applications. To apply students must fill out the google form under Mrs. Gulde's teacher page on gorebs.org and submit a photo of their official ACT COMPOSITE score with their name visible in the photo. 

 

  • If you are an animal lover, it is now time to sign up for the Biology Club! There are 3 steps to join the club 1. Bring a donation for the animal shelter to Rm 3109 2. Join the Biology Club google classroom page and fill out the questionnaire. The classroom code will be posted on the table when you bring your donation. 3. Order your Biology club t-shirt on GoRebs and pay the $15 in online school payments That's it. You are in the club. 

 

  • Junior Civitans have some upcoming events: They are helping with (1)Pumpkin Patch - September 24th at 6:00pm at First United Methodist Church in West Monroe (2) Special Needs Day at the Fair - October 2nd - 10:45 am until approximately 2:00pm. Information about signing up for these events is on our Google Classroom. Permission forms for the Special Needs Day (required in addition to signing up on Google Classroom) are outside room 6206. See Mrs. Beach for more information. 

 

  • On Thursday, September 19th, you will vote for your Student Council class representatives during your Social Studies class. This will be held in the lobby of the New Gym. Campaign posters are posted around campus. Familiarize yourself with who's running this year. If you do not have a social studies class, see Mrs. Nix today or go see her the day of elections in the New Gym. Student Council letters will go out next week. Your 1st period teachers will have them. If you have any questions, see Mrs. Nix in Room 3105.

 

  • Congratulations to the 2024-2025 Key Club officers: President: Allen Dahal, Vice President: Anderson Dixon, Secretary: Aybri Picard, Treasurer: Bella Fontana, Historian: Xan Nix, Parliamentarian: Brett King


 

SCHOOL NEWS: 

 

  • WMHS will administer the ACT to ALL JUNIORS and to seniors who have a score of 15-19. Test day is October 22. Mark your calendars.

 

  • Attention students taking dual enrollment courses this semester: If you owe money to ULM, that payment will be due no later than Wednesday, Sept. 25.  Beginning in September, you may either bring a check to Mrs. Hunt OR pay online on your ULM  Banner account. If paying by check, you must write your full name on the memo line. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THE AMOUNT YOU OWE MAY NOT BE ACCURATELY REFLECTED IN YOUR BANNER ACCOUNT RIGHT NOW, AS OPSB FUNDING HAS NOT YET BEEN ADDED, AND COURSES ARE CURRENTLY BEING ADDED BY ULM . If you have any questions about the amount you owe to ULM, please ask your DE teachers or Mrs. Hunt.

 

  • The 2024-2025 Rebelaire is officially available for purchase. Go to Balfour.com and select our school and you can order now. Today the cost is $75 a yearbook, but on Jan 1, 2025 the price will jump to $100 a yearbook.  Also - SENIORS: Baby ad portal is also found through Balfour.com. Your parents can purchase the baby ad as well as your yearbook all in one shot. The baby ads will only be able to be purchased through Dec.1, 2024 so go ahead and take care of it now. 

 

  • Tickets are now on sale for the Homecoming Dance! You can buy them under the link called Tickets on GoRebs.org No tickets will be sold at the door. Tickets are $15 and you must use your student ID number as your access code to purchase. If you are hoping to bring someone outside of WMHS as your guest, you must submit paperwork to Mrs. Knox by Sept 25th in order to get an access code for their ticket. Don't wait until the last minute, handle your business now.

 

  • Would you like to help out our community & donate blood? Did you know that 25% of all donated blood in the U.S. is used by cancer patients. Blood transfusions increase the number of healthy red blood cells in the body, which helps prevent complications of these diseases and improve quality of life. Our school is having a blood drive on Thursday, September 26th. To donate blood, you must be 16 yrs old or older. Students can stop by Mrs. Nix’s classroom (Room 3105) to get more information & to register. Students must pre-register to donate. Faculty can come during their planning periods to donate. 

 

  • Did you know Hispanic Heritage Month starts on Sunday? National Hispanic Heritage Month takes place in the United States every year from September 15 to October 15 and celebrates the cultures, histories, and contributions of U.S. citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, Central and South America, and parts of the Caribbean. Here at West Monroe High School, we have over 100 students who are from Honduras, Guatemala, Mexico, El Salvador, Columbia, Venezuela, and Nicaragua. This month, in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, let’s learn more about our classmates who are from these countries.


 

SPORTS NEWS:


 

  • The Varsity football team travels to North Desoto this Friday. Our spirit theme is Jersey Day, so be sure to have a jersey ready for Friday to show support for this team.

 

  • Boys’ basketball tryouts will be held Sept 25 after school. All players trying out must have a current physical. Physical forms can be picked up from Coach James room (1113) or Coach West in the old gym.
