CLUB and ORGANIZATION NEWS:  


 

  • Junior Civitans - if you signed up to help with the People with Special Needs Day at the fair, remember that permission forms are required and are due by this Friday. 

 

  • Students planning to join the Amateur Radio Club should submit the membership form and pay the club dues through Online School Payments by Monday.

 

  • The first Rebel Art Club meeting will be today right after school until approximately 4:00 in Room 1109. We'll be discussing general club info, club officer elections, and t-shirt designs. If you can't make the meeting, please check Google Classroom for follow-up information after the meeting. See you Wednesday!

 

  • Attention Board Game Club Members: there will be a meeting in the library after school today.

 

SCHOOL NEWS: 

 

  • WMHS will administer the ACT to ALL JUNIORS and to seniors who have a score of 15-19. Test day is October 22. Mark your calendars.

 

  • Attention students taking dual enrollment courses this semester: If you owe money to ULM, that payment will be due no later than today.  If you have any questions about the amount you owe to ULM, please ask your DE teachers or Mrs. Hunt.

 

  • The 2024-2025 Rebelaire is officially available for purchase. Go to Balfour.com and select our school and you can order now. Today the cost is $75 a yearbook, but on Jan 1, 2025 the price will jump to $100 a yearbook.  Also - SENIORS: Baby ad portal is also found through Balfour.com. Your parents can purchase the baby ad as well as your yearbook all in one shot. The baby ads will only be able to be purchased through Dec.1, 2024 so go ahead and take care of it now. 

 

  • Today is the last day to have an outside date approved for the homecoming dance. So make sure that you have all your paperwork handled by today or they will not be allowed to attend.For West Monroe students, dance tickets will remain on sale until Friday. Remember, no tickets sold at the door, so everyone needs to have all tickets purchased by Friday. 

 

  • Would you like to help out our community & donate blood? Did you know that 25% of all donated blood in the U.S. is used by cancer patients. Blood transfusions increase the number of healthy red blood cells in the body, which helps prevent complications of these diseases and improve quality of life. Our school is having a blood drive tomorrow. To donate blood, you must be 16 yrs old or older. Students can stop by Mrs. Nix’s classroom (Room 3105) to get more information & to register. Students must pre-register to donate. Faculty can come during their planning periods to donate. 

 

  • National Hispanic Heritage Month takes place in the United States every year from September 15 to October 15 and celebrates the cultures, histories, and contributions of U.S. citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, Central and South America, and parts of the Caribbean. Here at West Monroe High School, we have over 100 students who are from Honduras, Guatemala, Mexico, El Salvador, Columbia, Venezuela, and Nicaragua. This month, in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, let’s learn more about our classmates who are from these countries.

 

  • Rebels, the Homecoming Committee would like to invite YOU to be a part of this year’s homecoming production by submitting videos to be shared during the assembly.  Grab a friend, a phone(not during school hours), and create some Rebs on Film! Here are a few quick guidelines if you want your submission to have a chance of showing up on the big screen: Your video must fit the theme: recreate a movie scene, do a lip-sync with a recognizable clip of movie dialogue, or recreate a famous movie moment. Submissions must be between 30 seconds to 1 minute long.Videos, sound bites, music, clothing, and all dialogue must be school appropriate.  No vulgar language, no weapons, no crude or adult content.Filming and editing must happen outside of school hours. Cellphones are not permitted on campus during the instructional day. Visit the Homecoming tab on gorebs.org to find the Google form for submitting your videos. Just remember, NO PHONES during the Instructional Day!!

 

  • Seniors! It’s time for voting for Daughters of the American Revolution scholarship. Please log on to the Senior 2025 google classroom to cast your vote! Senior class QR code is on the senior newsletter in the folder you received. Deadline is Friday, September 27 at noon.

 

  • Also Seniors, the Scholarship page under Counselor's Corner is being updated as scholarship opportunities come in! Please don't wait to apply! There are many types of scholarships available so if you have any questions please visit your guidance counselor!

 

  • We want to wish our band students good luck as they go through the 1st round of All-State Auditions this weekend. And also, our Choir members who are moving to round 2 of All-State auditions this week. Good luck!!!

 

  • Monday is the last day to purchase and athletic pass for the year

  • If you have any pictures from any cool summer adventures that you would like to have considered to be in the yearbook, Send them with a description to the email address wmhsrebelaire@gmail.com Include the names of everyone pictured

 

SPORTS NEWS:


 

  • The Varsity football team travels to Catholic this Friday night. It’s Super Hero spirit day as well.

 

  • Boys’ basketball tryouts will be held this afternoon after school. All players trying out must have a current physical. Physical forms can be picked up from Coach James room (1113) or Coach West in the old gym. 

 

  • The Volleyball team travels to Downsville tomorrow for a match. We wish this team good luck.

 

  • The Cross Country team has a meet Saturday morning at ULM. The boys start things off at 7:30 and the girls follow at 8:15. Come support these teams if you can.
