CLUB and ORGANIZATION NEWS:
On Tuesday, September 3, Student Council will have its first meeting. This meeting is for all students interested in Student Council this year. The meeting will be in the Library at 6:30pm. There will be an officer candidate meeting after the general meeting. See Mrs. Nix if you have any questions.
If you love playing board games, you should attend the Board Game Club interest meeting this afternoon in the library directly after school. This meeting should last no more than 30 minutes.
The West Monroe High School Robotics team is recruiting new members. If you are interested in joining the team , you must complete an application AND have a parent representative at the parent meeting tomorrow at 5:30 in the STEM building. Applications are due Sept 5th. See Mr. Lovelady (3203), Mrs. Lovelady (7101), or Mrs. Cady (7103) if you have any questions.
Are you an 11th or 12th grader interested in gaining leadership skills while working closely with a mentor? Chase Leadership Academy will hold orientation for 11th and 12th graders interested in joining at 1:00 tomorrow in the library. If you are interested, or just want more information, see Miss Tubbs in room 4109 for more details.
Do you like history? Do you want to help local organizations such as the Chennault Aviation and Military Museum and the Northeast Louisiana Veterans Home? The history club may be a good fit for you. If you are in the 11th or 12th grade and interested in joining the history club, please see Mr. Aswell’s Teacher Page on Gorebs.org for more information and the link to the application. Applications are due by Monday September 2nd.
CLASS NEWS:
The Freshman dance is this Friday from 7-10 in the Edgewood Building. Wear your favorite West Monroe gear and jeans or school appropriate shorts. Tickets are $ 10, and your ELA teachers should have QR codes for you to scan to purchase tickets and also a code for submitting song requests. You will have to put your student Id number in to purchase tickets. For more information, see Mrs. Wilhite upstairs in Wing One.
Attention students taking dual enrollment courses this semester:: If you owe money to ULM, that payment will be due no later than Wednesday, Sept. 25. Beginning in September, you may either bring a check to Mrs. Hunt OR pay online on your ULM Banner account. If paying by check, you must write your full name on the memo line. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THE AMOUNT YOU OWE MAY NOT BE ACCURATELY REFLECTED IN YOUR BANNER ACCOUNT RIGHT NOW, AS OPSB FUNDING HAS NOT YET BEEN ADDED, AND COURSES ARE CURRENTLY BEING ADDED BY ULM . If you have any questions about the amount you owe to ULM, please ask your DE teachers or Mrs. Hunt.
Seniors who are half day students and are interested in an on campus job should see Mrs. Averitt in Wing Six or Mrs. Felicia in the Rebel Branch of the Ouachita Valley Federal Credit Union.
SCHOOL NEWS:
WMHS will administer the ACT to ALL JUNIORS and to seniors who have a score of 15-19. Test day is October 22. Mark your calendars.
The AAPPL (apple) test will be offered on September 11th. This is for students who know another language and who wish to test out of their language classes. The cost of the test is $20. See Mrs. Ballance in room 2207 for a list of languages or to pick up a registration form. Forms and money are due by September 10th.
Homecoming Court Applications are now available on gorebs.org under the tab "Parents and Students" The forms are Self-Nomination Only which means students must complete their own application, and nominations from others are not accepted. To be eligible, you must complete and submit the GOOGLE form by this afternoon at 3:00 PM and have your parent attend the mandatory parent meeting tomorrow.. See Mrs. Pittard in the library if you have any questions.
NHS Members please check Google Classroom! The mandatory Fall Meeting will be this Friday at 7: 15 AM in the Auditorium. Current senior members who want to sign up for an officer position, complete the Google Form and we will vote for officers during the mandatory meeting. Juniors interested in joining the National Honor Society Chapter at West Monroe High School should complete applications which open at the beginning of the Spring semester. Make sure you check the membership criteria listed on the gorebs website
The annual PIZZA PIGOUT night is Tuesday, September 10th from 5-8 pm at the Warren Drive and Wallace Road locations of Johnny’s Pizza. Make plans to attend.
SPORTS NEWS:
The Bayou Jamb football game happens this Saturday in Malone Stadium on the ULM campus. Tickets on sale in the main office and online. The Rebels take on the Evangel Eagles.
Freshman and JV football kick off their season at home today against Neville. Freshman will start at 5:30 followed by JV.
Volleyball will be playing in a jamboree today at Ouachita! Jv will start at 5:00 followed by varsity at 6
Student Athletic passes are now on sale for $30! You can purchase online at gorebs.org under the online school payments These get you into all home, regular season games (not playoff games) and work for all sports. An extra bonus is this pass also grants you access to the Rebel Nation Student Section at all home games
Speaking of the Rebel Nation Student Section. Here is some information….
The Rebel Nation pass does not need to be purchased if you have an athletic pass.
Rebel Nation passes are ONLY available online, we will not be taking any cash at the game. You only have to buy a Rebel Nation pass one time, but you will have to purchase an individual ticket to each home game you attend. (Do the math!! A pass is cheaper)
Seniors can sign in one guest who is a WMHS student. Your guest must be able to prove they attend WMHS if asked (Ex. Student ID, Student Progress Center, etc.)
