Seniors - Do you know Michael "Scoot"
Hunter? Scoot was a West Monroe High
School student that graduated in 2010.
He lettered four times in football and also
lettered in basketball and track & field.
Although he was a dedicated athlete, his
commitment to academic work never faltered.
Scoot had a 4.0 GPA and was a member of the
All-northeast Louisiana and All-district teams as
a junior and senior. He graduated from Indiana
University with a degree in Exercise Science
then attended and played for Oklahoma State
University. Although Scoot has quite a bit
of experience with NFL teams, he is probably
best known for his time spent as a corner
back with the New York Giants.

Because of the generosity of this fine young
man, some of you will get a little extra cash for
college, a new laptop and dorm essentials. If
you have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and
participated in at least one extracurricular
activity, stop by and pick up a copy of the Scoot
Scholars application in the guidance office
today. You won't regret it!

Students - Remember that Scheduling will be
here before you know it. Plan to be in school
every day for the week of March 9th through
13th. You don't want to miss out on critical
information that will help you plan for your next
year in high school.
Seniors - Did you attend George Welch
Elementary School in 5th grade? If so, stop by
the guidance office and pick up a copy of the
George Welch Elementary School PTO
Endowment Application. One student will get
$1,000 for higher education and two others will
receive $500. This money could be yours, but
you can't win if you don't apply.
Students in grades 10 - 12 with last names
beginning in A through D. Remember that Mrs.
McCollough is still on leave. You have done a
great job of getting your questions answered via
Email, so keep the messages coming. If you
have an emergency, please see another
counselor, Mrs. Beth in the clinic or your
administrator, Mr. Lewis.

Get a Clue. Languages solve mysteries.
ULM is hosting the Festival of World Languages

and the theme is Get A Clue: Languages Solve
Mysteries.
This event will be held on Saturday, March 21. The
cost is $10 which covers the t-shirt and lunch. It lasts
from 8:30 until 12:30. Please sign up with your
world language teacher.

This week is National FFA Week and to
celebrate the Ag Department is busy with
projects such as building flower beds to
rebuilding theater sets. For our teachers and
staff we have an Ag Trivia question near the
front office counter. Answer the questions
correctly and win a flat of red tulips. The
winner will be announced Friday."
